This is a white headed stilt. They are most notable by their voice which sounds exactly like a puppy yapping. This photo was taken at Teralba near Lake Macquarie.

This is a wonderful looking bird. Obviously the most striking feature is the yellow eye ring, but also look at the markings on its tail. This photo was taken on the grounds of the Newcastle University.

This photo was taken in the Upper Allyn River in the Hunter Valley. He was giving me the evil eye seeing if I had any food.
The Australian Brush Turkey
This Brush Turkey was sighted near the Allyn River in the Upper Hunter Valley. He was fairly friendly, hoping to get a feed.
Looks like a magpie or a crow but with big golden piercing eyes.

This is an interesting bird that stands about one meter or so tall. This was a adult with breading plumamge on display. This bird was photographed on Ash Island at Hexam.

This flock of Red Necked Avocents are jumping in flight in respose to a crow landing near by.

This is a very common bird in the local Newcastle area. This photo was taken at stockton. The blowing wind has given him a nice hair style.
